Why the compressor matters more on a heat pump

A straight air conditioner works one season. A heat pump reverses its cycle and runs in both, which roughly doubles the annual hours on the compressor and adds the mechanical stress of reversing valve operation and defrost cycles. Compressor durability stops being a specification and starts being the whole decision — which is the argument for Climatuff® here specifically.

How it heats

Instead of burning fuel, the system moves heat from outdoor air into the house. There is usable heat in 40°F air, and relocating it costs a fraction of generating it — which is how heat pumps reach efficiencies a resistance heater cannot approach.

Capacity does fall as it gets colder, and below a certain outdoor temperature the system leans on electric heat strips. Across Florida, the Gulf Coast and most of the Southeast that threshold is rarely reached. In colder regions a heat pump is normally paired with a furnace in a dual-fuel configuration.

Sizing — 1.5 to 5 ton

  3. It ships crated on a freight truck. Orders typically ship within 3–7 business days. A complete system travels as two crates — condenser and air handler — which can arrive on different days.   4. The carrier calls to book a delivery window. That appointment is when your equipment arrives — not the ship date. Answer the call; an unanswered one is the most common cause of a delay.
  5. Inspect it before you sign. Two minutes at the tail of the truck decide whether a damage claim works. Note any damage on the delivery receipt specifically, not just "damaged", and photograph it before it comes off the truck. What to check.
