Our promise on every order
- Typically ships in 3–7 business days — crated and moved by LTL freight from Southwest Florida. The carrier then schedules delivery with you.
- Manufacturer specifications, published — model number, capacity, efficiency and refrigerant are all listed below, so you can check this against what your contractor specified.
- Check your match in seconds — put in the two model numbers you were quoted and see whether that pair is AHRI-certified before you spend anything. Not sure, or not our equipment? Send them to us and we will look them up by hand.
- 30 days to return unopened equipment — full returns policy.
What's included, and what your installer supplies Ships as one crate by freight. Installation is not included.
In the box: the indoor air handler only. It needs a matched outdoor unit: check the AHRI match.
Your installer supplies the line set (or reuses yours if it qualifies: reuse or replace?), power wiring and disconnect, thermostat and control wire, condensate drain and float switch, and the permit.
Electric heat is not included. If you want it, add the matching Trane / RunTru heat kit.
Installation is by your licensed HVAC contractor. How to find one.
About this unit
The quiet one, and the reason is the cabinet
The Hyperion 5TAM5 is built around a double-walled cabinet: the insulation is sandwiched between two sheets of metal instead of being glued to the inside of one. Two things follow. The insulation never sits in the airstream, so it cannot shed fibres into the air you breathe or degrade over fifteen years of airflow across its face. And a double wall is far stiffer than a single one, so less blower noise radiates out of the box — which is why this is the handler to specify when the air handler lives in a closet off a bedroom or hallway rather than out in a garage.
It raises the efficiency of the condenser you already chose
This is the part buyers underestimate. SEER2 belongs to the certified pair, and the indoor half moves the number substantially. The same 5TTR6 condenser certifies around 15.2 SEER2 behind the 5TEM4 handler and as high as 17 SEER2 behind this one. That is the same outdoor unit, the same refrigerant, the same installation — a different indoor coil and blower. If you are weighing a more efficient condenser against a better air handler, price both paths before deciding, because upgrading the handler is often the cheaper route to the same certificate.
The Vortica blower
A multi-speed blower that can hold a long, low airflow rather than cycling hard. Longer run times at lower speed remove more humidity per hour of operation, and in the Southeast the difference between 55% and 45% indoor relative humidity is felt more than a degree or two of temperature. It is also gentler on ductwork that was never sized generously in the first place.
Where it fits
1.5 to 5 ton, pairing with Trane 5TTR and 5TWR condensers, on R-454B. Which condenser you put it with sets the certified efficiency, so read the AHRI reference number for your exact combination rather than assuming the handler alone determines it.
Heat kit
Takes the Trane BAYHTR electric heat kit for supplemental or backup heat, sized in kilowatts and sold separately. Required on a heat pump, optional on a cooling-only system, and routinely left off orders — have your installer specify the rating.

Key features
- Multi-speed Vortica blower runs longer and quieter than single-speed
- Double-walled cabinet keeps insulation out of the airstream
- Pairs with 5TTR and 5TWR condensers, 1.5 to 5 ton
- R-454B low-GWP refrigerant
- Which condenser you pair it with sets the certified efficiency
- Takes the Trane BAYHTR electric heat kit for backup heat
The air handler is the half of the system that lives inside your house and runs every time the system does. Trane builds it to the same standard as the unit outside.
- The blower decides how the house actually feels. A multi-speed or variable-speed blower runs longer at lower output instead of blasting and shutting off — and long, low airflow is what pulls humidity out of the air. A single-speed blower satisfies the thermostat quickly and leaves the room cold and clammy.
- Built to sit in an attic for twenty years. Insulated, sealed cabinet. That is what stops an indoor coil sweating onto a ceiling below it, and what stops you paying to cool the attic instead of the house.
- Convertible, multi-position. The 5TEM4 and the Hyperion 5TAM5 install upright or horizontal, so one part number fits a closet, an attic or a garage. Where none of them fit, the 5TMM5 mounts flat to a wall.
- Takes a field-installed heat kit. Electric strips drop in behind a single polarized plug, covering a heat pump's backup heat or, on an air-conditioner system, the only heat in the house.
- Published warranty terms. Trane's own limited warranty offers longer parts coverage when registered within 60 days, under Trane's conditions. Read them at trane.com before you buy.

- $349 delivered to your door, liftgate included — $499 to AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA and WY. One flat price whatever it weighs, with nothing added at checkout. Ships to the 48 contiguous states and DC.
- Must be installed by a licensed HVAC professional — opening refrigerant lines requires EPA certification.
- 30-day returns on unopened equipment, 20% restocking fee. No returns on installed units.
How buying the equipment yourself works — the whole process, start to finish
You are buying the equipment from us and the labour from an installer you choose. Two numbers instead of one bundled quote — which is the point, but it does mean you are the one connecting them. Here is the whole sequence.
- Order the equipment. The price on this page is what you pay us. Nothing about installation is included in it, and nothing is added later.
- Line up your installer before it ships. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that causes trouble — equipment sitting in a garage while you ring round for someone free. You need a licensed HVAC professional; opening a refrigerant circuit requires EPA certification. Ask specifically what they charge to install customer-supplied equipment. How to find one.
- It ships crated on a freight truck. Orders typically ship within 3–7 business days. A complete system travels as two crates — condenser and air handler — which can arrive on different days. Delivery is to your address on a liftgate truck for one flat price, with nothing to choose at checkout. What delivery costs.
- The carrier calls to book a delivery window. That appointment is when your equipment arrives — not the ship date. Answer the call; an unanswered one is the most common cause of a delay.
- Inspect it before you sign. Two minutes at the tail of the truck decide whether a damage claim works. Note any damage on the delivery receipt specifically, not just "damaged", and photograph it before it comes off the truck. What to check.
- Your installer fits it. Line set, disconnect, whip, thermostat and equipment pad are not included — your installer supplies those. If the manufacturer's terms allow, register the equipment. Trane and RunTru offer longer parts coverage when registered within 60 days, subject to their conditions. Check the manufacturer's terms before you buy. Warranty terms.
