Our promise on every order
- Typically ships in 3–7 business days — crated and moved by LTL freight from Fort Myers, FL. The carrier then schedules delivery with you.
- A genuine AHRI-certified pair — the certified reference number is published in the specifications below, so you can look the rating up yourself before you order.
- Check your match in seconds — put in the two model numbers you were quoted and see whether that pair is AHRI-certified before you spend anything. Not sure, or not our equipment? Send them to us and we will look them up by hand.
- 30 days to return unopened equipment — full returns policy.
About this system
The Trane 5TWR6 heat pump condenser matched to the Hyperion 5TAM5 multi-speed air handler — the highest-specified matched system we stock. Year-round heating and cooling, Trane's best air handler, and the configuration that draws the most rebate money.
What ships
- Outdoor unit — Trane 5TWR6 heat pump condenser with Climatuff® compressor, R-454B
- Indoor unit — Trane Hyperion 5TAM5 multi-speed air handler
- Both units crated and shipped together as an AHRI-matched pair, rated 15 to 16 SEER2 in this configuration, depending on tonnage
What the Hyperion brings to a heat pump
Backed by fourteen industry-exclusive patents, the Hyperion line is built around a double-walled cabinet that fully encloses its insulation and a Vortica™ multi-speed blower that runs long and quiet rather than hard and short. On a heat pump — which runs across both seasons and therefore accumulates roughly twice the annual hours of a cooling-only system — both of those choices compound.
Quiet matters more in winter, too. Heating run times are longer and happen at night, when the house is silent and the blower is the only thing making noise.
All-aluminum epoxy-coated coil, and CleanEffects™-ready if you want whole-home air cleaning.
Incentives
Heat pumps still attract the strongest residential HVAC incentives available, because electrifying home heating is what utilities and state programs are paying for. The federal 25C tax credit is no longer one of them — it ended for systems installed after 31 December 2025.
What remains is utility and state rebates, and ENERGY STAR–eligible matches can qualify. Eligibility is tied to the exact condenser and air handler pairing rather than the condenser alone — verify your specific combination against current program requirements, and keep the AHRI certificate, because rebate administrators will ask for it. Our 2026 incentives guide has the detail.
Sizing — 1.5 to 5 ton
Seven capacities. Size on the cooling load, verify against the heating load, and insist on a Manual J from someone who has walked the property.
Before you order
- Must be installed by a licensed HVAC professional to keep the manufacturer warranty valid
- Supplemental heat is part of the design. The BAYHTR electric heat kit fits the 5TAM5
- Line set, disconnect, whip, thermostat and equipment pad are not included — the thermostat must support heat pump operation
- Register at trane.com within 60 days to extend parts coverage from 5 years to 10 — see our warranty page
Key features
- 15.2 to 16 SEER2 cooling plus heating, certified as a matched pair
- Hyperion 5TAM5 multi-speed blower runs longer and quieter
- Double-walled cabinet keeps insulation out of the airstream
- One outdoor unit heats and cools — no separate furnace
- Climatuff® compressor, R-454B refrigerant
- Ships as two crates — condenser and air handler
Trane is the badge most homeowners ask for by name. Buying the pair is what makes the rating on this listing the rating you actually get.
- The Climatuff® compressor. Trane puts compressors through accelerated life testing that most manufacturers do not, and the field failure rates follow. On a component that runs into four figures to replace once the warranty is out, that is where the premium actually goes.
- The pair is what gets rated, not the condenser. AHRI certifies an outdoor unit against one specific air handler. The reference number on this listing is for that exact combination — which is also the number a rebate administrator or a permit office asks for.
- Warranty that rewards registering. Five years on parts as standard, extending to ten on most components when you register within 60 days at trane.com.
- Every technician works on Trane. Parts availability fifteen years from now is not something you have to think about, and you will not struggle to find someone willing to service it.
- It holds its value. "It's a Trane" is a line in a listing when the house sells, and an inspector who sees one moves on. That is worth something on a component nobody can see working.

Shipping & returns
- $349 delivered to your door, liftgate included — $499 to AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA and WY. One flat price whatever it weighs, with nothing added at checkout.
- Must be installed by a licensed HVAC professional — opening refrigerant lines requires EPA certification.
- 30-day returns on unopened equipment, 20% restocking fee. No returns on installed units.
How buying direct works — the whole process, start to finish
You are buying the equipment from us and the labour from an installer you choose. Two numbers instead of one bundled quote — which is the point, but it does mean you are the one connecting them. Here is the whole sequence.
- Order the equipment. The price on this page is what you pay us. Nothing about installation is included in it, and nothing is added later.
- Line up your installer before it ships. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that causes trouble — equipment sitting in a garage while you ring round for someone free. You need a licensed HVAC professional; opening a refrigerant circuit requires EPA certification. Ask specifically what they charge to install customer-supplied equipment. How to find one.
- It ships crated on a freight truck. Orders typically ship within 3–7 business days. A complete system travels as two crates — condenser and air handler — which can arrive on different days. Delivery is to your address on a liftgate truck for one flat price, with nothing to choose at checkout. What delivery costs.
- The carrier calls to book a delivery window. That appointment is when your equipment arrives — not the ship date. Answer the call; an unanswered one is the most common cause of a delay.
- Inspect it before you sign. Two minutes at the tail of the truck decide whether a damage claim works. Note any damage on the delivery receipt specifically, not just "damaged", and photograph it before it comes off the truck. What to check.
- Your installer fits it, then register the warranty. Line set, disconnect, whip, thermostat and equipment pad are not included — your installer supplies those. Registering within 60 days of installation takes about four minutes and extends parts coverage from five years to ten. Warranty terms.
