Why this listing shows a range

The A5AC5 condenser carries a 15.2 SEER2 rating on its own. The certified system figure is a different number, because AHRI measures the condenser and air handler together — and it moves with tonnage, which is why this pairing lands anywhere from 15 to 16 SEER2 across the seven sizes. The exact certified figure for the size you pick is on the specifications panel.

This is not a technicality. Rebate programs are written against the certified system number, not the condenser's, so the figure that matters is the one for your specific pairing and size.

What the extra efficiency buys

Against the A5AC4's 14.3 SEER2, this system runs roughly five to twelve percent more efficiently depending on size. On equipment that runs eight months a year in Florida or Texas, that compounds over a fifteen-to-twenty year life in a way it simply does not on a rental you plan to sell.

The other lever is rebates. ENERGY STAR–eligible matches can qualify for utility and state rebates — which in some regions closes a real share of the price gap between this and the A5AC4. Note the federal 25C tax credit is no longer available: it ended for systems installed after 31 December 2025. Check your utility's current program before you decide; eligibility depends on the specific condenser, air handler and tonnage combination, so confirm the exact pairing before you buy and keep the AHRI certificate. Sizing — 1.5 to 5 ton

Seven capacities. Get a Manual J load calculation from a contractor who has seen the property — an oversized system short-cycles, never pulls humidity out of the air, and wears out early. Bigger is not better. Send us model numbers and we will confirm a certified match.

How buying the equipment yourself works — the whole process, start to finish 6 steps

You are buying the equipment from us and the labour from an installer you choose. Two numbers instead of one bundled quote — which is the point, but it does mean you are the one connecting them. Here is the whole sequence.

  1. Order the equipment. The price on this page is what you pay us. Nothing about installation is included in it, and nothing is added later.
  2. Line up your installer before it ships. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that causes trouble — equipment sitting in a garage while you ring round for someone free. You need a licensed HVAC professional; opening a refrigerant circuit requires EPA certification. Ask specifically what they charge to install customer-supplied equipment. How to find one.
  3. It ships crated on a freight truck. Orders typically ship within 3–7 business days. A complete system travels as two crates — condenser and air handler — which can arrive on different days. Delivery is to your address on a liftgate truck for one flat price, with nothing to choose at checkout. What delivery costs.
  4. The carrier calls to book a delivery window. That appointment is when your equipment arrives — not the ship date. Answer the call; an unanswered one is the most common cause of a delay.
  5. Inspect it before you sign. Two minutes at the tail of the truck decide whether a damage claim works. Note any damage on the delivery receipt specifically, not just "damaged", and photograph it before it comes off the truck. What to check.
  6. Your installer fits it. Line set, disconnect, whip, thermostat and equipment pad are not included — your installer supplies those. If the manufacturer's terms allow, register the equipment.
