About this unit

Trane's 16 SEER2 series heat pump — cooling in summer and electric heating in winter from one outdoor unit, 1.5 through 5 ton, running on R-454B.

"16 SEER2 Series" is a model name, not your rating

A condenser has no SEER2 rating of its own. AHRI certifies an outdoor unit against one specific indoor unit, and the rating belongs to that pair. The same 5TWR6 certifies at up to 15.2 SEER2 with a 5TEM4, 15 to 16 SEER2 with a Hyperion 5TAM5, and up to 15.2 SEER2 with a 5TMM5 wall mount.

So when a quote names a SEER2 figure without naming the indoor unit, it has not told you anything yet. Ask for both model numbers — or check the pairing yourself against the 119 certified combinations we publish.

Why a heat pump in Florida

There is no furnace and no gas line. The same refrigerant circuit that cools the house in August reverses in January and heats it, which is far cheaper to run than electric strip heat. On the handful of genuinely cold mornings, the strips in the air handler carry the load — that is what they are for, and it is also why heat-kit sizing matters on the indoor unit you pair this with.

Heat pumps also attract the strongest utility and state incentives of any category now that the federal 25C credit has ended for systems installed after 31 December 2025. What the premium buys

The Climatuff® compressor, which on a heat pump works considerably harder than on a cooling-only system because it runs year round. You are buying the equipment from us and the labour from an installer you choose. Two numbers instead of one bundled quote — which is the point, but it does mean you are the one connecting them. Here is the whole sequence.

Order the equipment. The price on this page is what you pay us. Nothing about installation is included in it, and nothing is added later.
Line up your installer before it ships. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that causes trouble — equipment sitting in a garage while you ring round for someone free. You need a licensed HVAC professional; opening a refrigerant circuit requires EPA certification. Ask specifically what they charge to install customer-supplied equipment. How to find one.
It ships crated on a freight truck. Orders typically ship within 3–7 business days. A complete system travels as two crates — condenser and air handler — which can arrive on different days. Delivery is to your address on a liftgate truck for one flat price, with nothing to choose at checkout. What delivery costs.
The carrier calls to book a delivery window. That appointment is when your equipment arrives — not the ship date. Answer the call; an unanswered one is the most common cause of a delay.
Inspect it before you sign. Two minutes at the tail of the truck decide whether a damage claim works. Note any damage on the delivery receipt specifically, not just "damaged", and photograph it before it comes off the truck. What to check.
